Join us this Saturday at 3pm Celtic Park time for a special Beyond the Waves Celtic Football Show where we’ll be conducting a telethon to raise funds for the Oscar Knox appeal. Wee Oscar suffers from stage 4 neuroblastoma, which is an aggressive form of cancer that primarily affects children. He needs an aggressive immunotherapy treatment that is not available in the UK currently and costs hundreds of thousands of dollars in travel and medical fees.
We want to do our part in terms of spreading the word and raising as much money as possible to help Wee Oscar and his family. So we’re thinking we’d like to have some fun in the process. What we are going to do is hold a telethon on Saturday at 3pm, the time that Celtic would likely be playing if there were a game. The theme of this telethon is “For Every Tenner You Donate, We’ll Donate a Fiver”. Details are as follows:
We are asking you to call into the show via Skype (as many folks do on a regular basis) and make a quick point about Celtic, give a shoutout etc. and donate 10 quid to the Oscar Knox Appeal at oscarknox.blogspot.com and we will meet you halfway and donate 5 quid ourselves.
We will mirror the time frame that the game would follow, so a 45 minute half then a wee break and then another 45 minute half.
The more people call in, the more money you’ll get out of us and the more money we’ll be able to donate. So when you call in, make your point as quick as possible.
Just to use an example, if we get 20 callers over the 90 minutes, the show will donate 100 quid to the Oscar Knox appeal and will continue to do so through the fall. So for everyone who calls in and mentions that they’re donating a tenner, we will match it with a fiver. But you have to mention it and you have to do it!
If you’ve sat on the sidelines because you were nervous about calling in or you were confused by how to use Skype, now is your time to sort yourself out, take the plunge and call in. It’s for a great cause so let’s do our part.
