Introducing the new charity Celtic single by my good friend from the HomeBhoys show Joe McKenna. A Bhoy is the 2nd song released by Joe for charity in as many years following on from the hugely popular World Wide Tim Parade that can be heard over the sound system at Celtic Park on match days.
This new song – A Bhoy – that tells the story about a wee bhoy growing up and living the dream to play for his heroes will benefit the Yorkhill Hospital for sick kids in Glasgow.
The charity was chosen by Celtic Minded poster Bobby Hughes (Boaby67 on the board) whom the song has been released on the behalf of.
Bobby is terminally ill but has been an inspiration to everyone on Celtic Minded since sharing his news with the board a few weeks ago. His upbeat attitude and humour at this testing time in his life has touched everyone on the board and many have already raised a fair bit for the hospital in Bobby’s name.
We wanted to do something on HomeBhoys to help out and Joe already had the guts of this song written. A few wee edits then an ok from Bobby and the new single was born.
You can purchase the single from
Bandcamp: http://joemckenna.bandcamp.com/track/a-bhoy (you can listen to the song in full there)
We hope you will support this song and wonderful cause which will be an everlasting tribute to the inspirational Bobby Hughes.
Below is the original post from Celtic Minded when Bobby broke his news…
I’ll soon be off to meet my Maker
Got some results back last week and both lungs are shot away and the brain as well, was given 5-6 weeks, so I’m getting myself ready.
I’ve only been on CelticMinded for a short while but it’s been an absolute fucking pleasure being around all of you. I’ve had my daily fix of happiness, sadness, despair and downright hilarity each and every single time I’ve logged-on.
I’m an easy-going kind of chunt and this place suits me down to the ground, I hate getting too bogged-down in shit, so anything serious I’ve avoided (apart from the Hun demise of course!).
I’m so proud to be a Tim and part of the Celtic Family that it fucking hurts sometimes to be so proud of the people who follow Celtic, whether they can go to games or not. I can never forget the last game of last season when Tims showed the World what they’re about even while the Title slipped away from us. THAT was a day to remember, and I’m so happy I witnessed it and this Season’s title.
I’ll be around until they peel my fingers off the mouse!
To hear more of Bobby’s story Jason went into more detail on last nights HomeBhoys show that can be listened to and downloaded from here
Please support this cause in the way that Celtic fans are celebrated for.
